First week thoughts.

We've officially been here for a week. What a week of settling in it has been. I don't have any pictures uploaded yet (a lot of them are on Brad's camera), but that's on my to-do list for the next few days.

With the help of my parents and Amiee, we've accomplished SO much, including (but not limited to):
1. Unloading most of our boxes (and there were a bunch), breaking them down, and getting them stored.
2. Locating all essentials and most of everything else that we've needed/wanted this week.
3. Located, frequented, and identified deals at the nearest grocery stores/pharmacies. Restocked our pantry. Got ahead on some cooking so that Brad and I can keep on working away in the apartment without having to stop and cook. Mom definitely spoiled me in that department.
4. Getting our security system installed.
5. Watching a LOT of Olympics. You know all of those medals we've gotten in swimming? You can thank us for cheering them continuously. We're also well-versed in gymnastics, volleyball, water polo, diving (all versions), indoor cycling (even though we don't get that one), rowing, and a few others. Trampoline gymnastics? We were very attentive. Go Canada.

We also had several unexpected blessings this week, like finding that a utility closet in our apartment is about 3 times as big as we thought it was. Dad got in there like a boss and got it in tip-top storage space. We were able to put SO much in there that we thought we were going to have to put in the basement. I was loathe to store my Christmas stuff out there...

We've had several really positive interactions with kind neighbors. The day we moved in, it POURED. Our upstairs neighbor brought out ponchos for us as we unloaded the truck. She also sent me a People magazine to read. Another neighbor brought us a list of local stores and restaurants with addresses (this was after she pointed out that our moving van parking location had inconvenienced her but whatever). Two days ago, another neighbor stopped by to let us know that we had a package in the mail area of the building. She also told us that her dog was a rescue dog from Tennessee. She knows that there are a lot of abused and abandoned dogs in the South, but she was relieved (and dare I say, surprised?) to hear that we love animals and have always taken excellent care of ours.

Is that a stereotype of the South that I was unaware of? Non-Southern friends...is that a thing??

Things are continuing to truck along. Hopefully, we'll continue getting it together and get back on track with "normal" life.

Just another friendly reminder that I'm still playing catch-up. Clearly, it is not currently July... We made another annual trip to Tops...
