We lived a lot of regular life in June, which, I'm imagining, is the kind of life that you refer to as "the good ol' days." They were- very much- good days. (Obviously not all of them...some of our kids pick fights more often than I'd like, but overall, the days are great.)
We don't have a community pool or one that is super convenient to us, so this is our setup. Thankfully, everyone is quite happy with it. I think Hallie will be joining in with gusto next year.
Our church started meeting in person again back in the spring, but children's programing didn't get up and going until June. Brad and I volunteered for nursery the first week, as we predicted that all of the children would have a bit of a hard time. Brynnie is in the oldest nursery class, and all of the kids in that age group were less than 2 years old when we stopped meeting at the beginning of the pandemic, meaning that NONE of the nursery kids have any memory of nursery before that. Isn't that crazy? The 3-year-old class (the one we were in) went pretty well, but all of the younger classes had a ROUGH morning. Blessings to all of the volunteers in those classes...
We are never not thankful for our Kiwi Crate subscriptions.
These boxes gave us many an hour of activities that I did not have to prepare.
GOLD.
We got to see friends that we haven't seen in a long time! And this is the only picture I managed to capture from our dinner...
The girls created some truly remarkable chalk murals.
We began Story Tea Time, wherein I read books while they drink (decaf) tea. Huge hit.
We have some friends from church who are missionaries with an aviation ministry. They invited us to the hangar for supper and playing (and a tour of the plane!)
I got really comfortable with Costco runs with all four girls in the miserable heat.
June is the time of year that we say goodbye to friends every year (who have graduated/gotten jobs/etc). The up-side is that we got to hang with friends (who weren't moving) at all of the going-away parties. We saw Julie (pictured) at a number of these gatherings.
Always going to grocery stores...these children DO insist on eating every day.
We built any number of forts in the living room.
Claire asked to read outside just about every day.
Lily set up a "movie theater" in the guest room for her stuffies.
I'm amazed at what she can create during her rest times.
We tried something new and fun and created our own Summer Snack Mixes. It's not something we'll do all the time, but it's fun to do from time to time!
A super sweet grown-up friend from church invited us over for tea.
It was the dearest. The girls picked out their own dress-up outfits and had the BEST time.
Hallie, like our other offspring, has shown a reluctance to mobility. Brad has spent quite a few hours helping her practice crawling. He's a good dad.
See? What a great dad!
Playing in the rain
Spotted this on the wall...
How??
Those curls!!
I asked Lily to keep Hallie safe in the chair for just a moment while I changed Brynn's diaper. I turned around and saw this...
People tell us all the time "Wow! You have your hands full!" Yep. This is accurate. But I'm so happy with my full hands. It's the best kind of full.
