For those not from Alabama: the Saturday after Thanksgiving is the Iron Bowl. (The Iron Bowl is the Alabama - Auburn football game, and it is one of the biggest days of the year.) I will not be discussing the game in the post (because it was a heartbreaker for Auburn fans), but I will post pictures of us in our Auburn gear, as per usual:

Thanksgiving in Alabama, part 4
We headed out for our trek home the next morning. No one can accuse us of not packing our time with the most fun people and activities! There was much weeping as we drove away from Nana's and Poppy's.
Ok- this picture was not taken as we drove away. I don't know when during the week this one was taken, but it was at a happier moment than that of departure.
Brad and I got an hour or so for a quick coffee date at a very whimsical coffee shop.
Trumpkin and another kitty joined the wise men in visiting baby Jesus.
Thanksgiving cookie decorating
Lots of driving practice
Visits with family
A very happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving in Alabama, part 3
The day after Thanksgiving, we went to a Christmas tree farm owned by some friends of my parents, and we had the BEST time! We weren't there to get a tree; we just went for all of the festivities, of which there were many.
Everyone visited with Santa, even though he doesn't play a large part in our Christmas celebrations:
We went on a scavenger hunt to find all of his reindeer (or...the foamboard representations thereof):

We went on a really sweet Christmas equivalent of a hay ride through the fields:
There were crafts:
Cookie decorating (and eating):
And then...the petting zoo. It was nearly impossible to extricate Lily when it was time.
Goats. In Christmas jammies.
They were really so cute.
We also had hot chocolate and silly photos before heading out:
The girls had the absolute best time, and all the grown-ups really enjoyed tagging along. But, Poppy was a work all day. Since our admission wristbands lasted for the whole day, we went back that evening so Poppy could have fun, too. Which he did.
Hallie wasn't looking in this one, so we took another...
...and Brynn made this face. Oi.
Bunnies by moonlight (floodlight)
And we wrapped the evening up with Christmas stories by the fireplace. It was adorable.
Everyone was so tired at bedtime, but we had the best day! I hope that they continue with all of the Christmas tree farm fun in future years, because the girls remember it fondly all the time.
