LILY-ISMS: July 2022 edition

Discussing skin tone among the sisters
So... Claire and I are the sunflower part of the Ukrainian flag and Brynnie and Hallie are the sky part.

Well, it's a puzzle. You know how I am when I see a puzzle.

This is the shorty cut.

I can't be patient. I locked my patience in my bag. And the key is gone.

Your new hat is red! That's my favorite color on your head!

Bronking rhino : bucking bronco

Trumpkin likes bread from the old days, like when God was on the earth.

Bill: Girls, should Grandpa shave this week at the beach or not?
Lily: Grandpa... Just look in the mirror.

Is that guy going to run across the bridge? I'm very impressed.

Me and Claire said that in UNISON!

I gave you a hug to my heart.

Is Daddy going to be our room mom?
While discussing our homeschool plans

Relayed by our friend, Kaitlyn, who serves in children's church:
Lily in children's church to another child who really enjoyed the story:
I have a book at home that has all these stories in it.

I like you, Mommy. You're *almost* perfect.

Can we be Eloise-y twins?

Let me do the calculation.

Mommy, you're just like Isabella- you never have a bad hair day!
Referring to Isabella from Encanto

Looking at a framed picture Amiee gave them:
Oh, Bo. She was a stroooong woman indeed. She gave me a piggyback ride and then Brynnie!

When the relatives were here...
Referring to our visit from my aunt and uncle

Brynnie, shhh! I'm on the phone with Trumpkin!

Mommy, I believe it's raining cats and dogs.

In the deep end, when I try to stand up, I plunge underwater.

I can't get that for you, Brynn. I'm tucked into my safe haven.

Discussing her dress
There are pockets everywhere. That's a relief!

Mommy, I can soften the blow by saying it's 4 weeks until we move. Because it's closer to 4 weeks not 3.

You forgot to do a dog lick on the page!

Around here lately: July 2022 edition

Y'all, she asked me if this was "an old timey phone." OLD TIMEY.

Hey! We said it in unison!

Shave and a paper cut... Two bits!

Lily: Let's play in the water!
Claire: I think I'm going to stay ashore for a while.

I'm going to be bronked off!
Playing "bucking bronco" in the pool

It takes a lot of screwing up in my mind to think of a birthday present to give.

The Mona Lisa's face is unscrutable and unreadable.

What do we need to unstick-ify the griddle?

There's a smattering of flowers on the ground.

June 2022: a recap

WHEW was June something else. It was so much fun and also SO busy. Oh! And it threw me the unexpected challenge of a broken washing machine. A broken washing machine in a house with four kids + a husband who exercises daily (creating LOTS of athletic wear) that stayed broken for three full weeks. May we never experience that again. LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER.

Strawberries with friends!

Splashing around on the back porch

Many, many messes

Bedtime devotions
We went through this book about the Apostles' Creed this summer. I recommend!

Alabama visit, part 2

My parents live about an hour from Ivy Green, Helen Keller's childhood home. It just so happened that Ivy Green was staging live performances of The Miracle Worker while we were in Alabama, so Mom and Dad asked if they could take Claire and Lily to see it. Of course I said Yes!

Trumpkin joined, too. Of course.

I should mention that the Boswell girls LOVE Helen Keller.

While the big girls went to the show, the little girls got to watch Moana in Nana's and Poppy's bed. They were pretty happy about it.

Mom and Dad decided to take the girls back to the science museum so that they could do a few of the activities and exhibits that we didn't get to the first time. The girls had a blast! Again!

On Sunday, we went to the church where I grew up (and my parents are still members) and got to see many, many loved ones. We also got to chat for a minute with the ladies in a Sunday school class that donated to the girls' Ukrainian fundraiser. Incidentally, they left with another $75 to add to their fund.

Mrs. Romine came over and was lucky enough to be a congregant for a Stuffie Wedding.

Getting ready

It was really quite something.

Happy faces.

We always have such a great time visiting my hometown. It's always really hard to leave, and there is usually a lot of sobbing in the van for the first 20 minutes or so of the ride home. We lean heavily into the idea of being lucky enough to have things that make it so hard to say goodbye.

Thank you, Nana and Poppy!

Boswell beach trip 2022: part 1

Just another friendly reminder that I'm still playing catch-up. Clearly, it is not currently July... We made another annual trip to Tops...
