Letter to my Baby Brynn: 2 Months

Dear Brynnie,

Another month has raced by us. They get faster and faster, it seems. We've been busy and so have you! You've grown so much, both physically and developmentally.

You started smiling this month, and we all love it so much! You are SO smiley and happy. You love to give gigantic smiles and are rarely not smiling (exceptions: dirty diaper, wanting to eat, needing to burp). It appears we might have yet another extrovert on our hands.

Oh! And you LOVE ceiling fans. You smile at them as if they are your very best friends. It's precious and hilarious.

Our sleep situation has gotten better; it's not perfect yet, but we are sleeping much longer stretches at night, and you're only eating once between bed time and getting-up time (unfortunately for me, it's between 3:30-4:00, which is a terrible window of time for my sleep cycle. We really need to work on that.). You've also started taking your paci a little more. Sort of. You have such a tortured relationship with it. Sometimes you love it, sometimes you pretend it doesn't exist. Sometimes you really want it but can't keep it in your mouth. It's really complicated.

We had a little medical adventure this month! At your 2-month check-up, Dr. Dunk heard a little heart murmur. We had an appointment with a pediatric cardiologist the next day for an EKG, which confirmed a heart murmur that is not uncommon in infants (Peripheral Pulmonary Artery Stenosis) and will most likely resolve by your first birthday. They also noticed a condition called Patent Foramen Ovale, which should also clear up. They're both present currently, but they are not causing any troubles that involve any particular treatment. In fact, we didn't even have to make a follow-up appointment. It was a stressful couple of days for Mommy, but we are very thankful for the results of your appointment.

While that was a slightly scary little moment of our summer, we followed it up with a big, fun trip! We headed off to spend a few days in Tennessee, where you met Mamaw, Aunt Donna, and Uncle J.D. for the first time! You also celebrated your first 4th of July. Then, we headed to Alabama for a beach trip with Nana, Poppy, and Bo, which you seemed to really enjoy. So many fun firsts and lots of great family time. And, you were a great car baby!

I think I know now why there's a stereotype about the baby of the family being coddled, babied, and spoiled: we can't put you down or let you go and HAVE to squish you and kiss you and snuggle you at all times. And guess what? I have no plans to stop anytime soon.

Love you so so much,
Mommy

I love this "Snuggle this Muggle" onesie. Don't fret, though: we know you're magical.

Look at that hair!

First Father's Day to celebrate Daddy!

Claire still loves to hold her "babiest sister." Her words.

Yes, I DID let them give you a bath. And you know what? They did a great job! And you loved it.

Waiting at your cardiology appointment.

Your shirt says "Snuggle Bunny." So, bunny ears.

Meeting Mamaw

Red, white, and blue for 4th of July.

This was right before you had a diaper explosion that necessitated a costume change. FOR RAY RAY. You completely bypassed your own clothing. I have to say, I was impressed.

Beach baby.

I remembered to pack your lamb pillow for the trip to Alabama, but when we got to the beach, I realized I'd left it in Madison. Or so I thought. I found it in the back of the van the day after I took your 2 month pictures. Of course.

You sweetie baby, you.

Boswell beach trip 2022: part 1

Just another friendly reminder that I'm still playing catch-up. Clearly, it is not currently July... We made another annual trip to Tops...
