Winter and Spring 2021 school things

We finished up our school year on April 30th. I had originally planned to continue into the first week of May, but after we finished Claire's state testing, I counted up our school days and realized that we had plenty of days. And we were feeling ready to be done. So, I up and surprised Claire with an early last day of school! Which turned out to be a really good idea, given that the following week was really full and busy for us. Here's a round-up of some of our school-ish moments from spring semester:

Claire completed Read Aloud Revival's reading challenge during January.

We practiced math with bath crayons.

Literacy.

We had a few weeks of meeting via Zoom with our homeschool co-op, which was fine(ish)...

...but resulted in extreme hustling on my part to keep Brynn occupied.

Baby sister as show-and-tell (not officially, but Claire did want to show her off)

Zoom co-op was better than no co-op, but these girls were excited to get back in-person.

Black History Month projects

Groundhog Day snack

We read Pies from Nowhere and make mug cakes (because I couldn't manage to help all three of them make pies). That's a great book, by the way.

Math activities

Cutie.

Baking measurement math

Kiwi crate projects

Snapped this while nursing Hallie in the nursery at the church where we had co-op this semester.

We learned about the 19th Amendment during Women's History Month, and Lily decided to make a banner to campaign for children's rights.

Claire joined in.

I know Dr. Seuss was under fire this year, but we celebrated his birthday, anyway.

Math lesson on this cool marker board from Gran and Grandpa.

And sweet notes.

Practicing sight words

Learning about France

Trying out Dijon mustard...

...Brynn's reaction

Math on St. Patrick's Day (note the hair bow)

Multifaceted project on her Women's History Month woman-of-choice: Jane Goodall.

Scissor practice

Last day of Co-op!

Foundations Apprentice class

ABCedarians

Testing girl

Nature observations: frog on the porch rail

They observed the frog for over an hour!

We had a great semester! It was pretty challenging to have a preschooler, 2-year-old, and infant + a second grader, in all honesty, but we figured out some useful rhythms and accomplished some good things. And? I loved being with them everyday. They are really quite delightful.

Boswell beach trip 2022: part 1

Just another friendly reminder that I'm still playing catch-up. Clearly, it is not currently July... We made another annual trip to Tops...
