A little turkey crafting with some of our beautiful leaves. This absolutely counts as a school activity.
Playing on the porch while waiting for our Tennessee family to arrive!
The quail really were just everywhere at this house.
A very favorite picture of mine.
Tennessee arrived!
And brought holiday snacks.
Bill, Barbara, and Aunt Sue arrived on Tuesday evening, so on Wednesday, we headed out to the American History museum. Aunt Sue had never visited DC before, so we thought this would be a fun Smithsonian to start with.
Enjoying some hands-on learning
These girls love a ride on public transportation...even replicas that don't go anywhere.
Julia Child's tv kitchen set
Holiday decor was already up. Lily seems a little skeptical of the pre-Thanksgiving timing...
We did these two exhibits several times over the course of our District days, but it's perennially a favorite for me and I never tired of walking through.
Reading presidential speeches
Some views on our way to Shake Shack for lunch.
"But where's the FOOD?"
The weather wasn't particularly nice for this day out, but it was so fun to have family in town to go to some favorite places with. Rachael arrived a little later (to much rejoicing from all the children!), and Tim and Jenna got in around midnight. The excitement level of the girls was just through the roof! In order to have a bed for everyone, we moved the girls into our (huge) room for the following few days. We set Brynnie up in the pack-n-play, and we set the big girls up in this:
...which was enormous fun for them! Brad and I were afraid that none of us would get any sleep if we just set them up on a pallet (one too many lousy experiences in hotel rooms gave us this wisdom), so we thought we'd give this a try. We put their ready-to-wake clock in there with them, and wouldn't you know? It worked. I mean, it wasn't the best few nights of sleep we'd ever gotten, but it was better than we'd hoped for, so we took it as a win!
Up next: Thanksgiving Day!
