Brassarts in the District

No matter where in the world my sister or I end up living (the actual world...we globe-trot), our parents will beat a path to see us. Every time. So, it should come as no surprise to anyone that my parents came for a visit before we'd been in DC for a month. They are also very savvy travelers who told me not to worry about picking them up at the airport- they'd get to us just fine.

And they did!
Yellow line --> Red line --> Dupont Circle

This is the view coming out of the Q St. Dupont Circle exit.

This was the picture Mom sent me to let me know they'd arrived.
(They arrived during nap, so she was avoiding knocking/ringing/waking children up.)

Breaking everyone in

Either we didn't trust Poppy with the nice furniture and rug in the dining room, either...or he was just being a sport and checking out the girls' setup.

New treats from Nana and Poppy!

Daddy snugs

On our way to the zoo to show Poppy around

In our monkey shirts because we like a good theme.

Poppy bought them the commemorative Giant Panda coin that their lazy mother continually refused to buy for them.

Oh Lily...

Better.

This was the only time that we saw these red wolves during our time in DC (and we went every week, often twice)

Afternoon rest break before...

...introducing them to the garden at Dumbarton.

The Secret Garden (entrance)

And the man with the key (card)!

Of note: while we were walking around Dumbarton, Daddy diagnosed Brynnie with croup. And called in a steroid pronto. HE'S SO HANDY. We have also discovered that Brynna comes down with croup very easily. It's a bit unnerving.

Headed out for a day on the town...er...in the District

Postal Museum!
It's such a low-key museum (part of the Smithsonian) that is GREAT for families with little people. We went many times and loved it every time.

This is a train car that kids can roam around and sort mail and watch a video. It's a fun spot.

These floor tiles are upside down in this picture, but they are designed to look like envelopes with stamps in the upper right corner. Really fun, thoughtful design.

One of my favorite displays

Picking out our stamps to take home

We really had just the best time on our outing to the Postal Museum. It's right across the street from Union Station (which was only 5 stops from ours), so after a fun few hours at the museum, we went to the food court in Union Station and got Chick-Fil-A for lunch before heading home.

Mom and Dad were visiting over Brad's birthday weekend, so they very kindly watched the girls so that Brad and I could go get dinner in Georgetown.

Movie night in our beloved den

We had such a good time going around the District with Mom and Dad, showing them things that we love and discovering some new things with them. (And spoiler: this wasn't their last visit.) More to come!

Boswell beach trip 2022: part 1

Just another friendly reminder that I'm still playing catch-up. Clearly, it is not currently July... We made another annual trip to Tops...
