October 2019: catch-all

Just some random pictures and snippets of life from October in the District:

Our friends who lived on our block. Sometimes, when they would walk past our house on the way to the metro, they'd send us pictures in front of our place.

I took the girls to get their flu shots, and we had to wait for close to an hour. Thankfully, I grabbed the iPad on the way out the door, and they just sat quietly and watched Curious George.

Brynn just doing some yoga.

One of her favorite spots to sit.

Watching a show from their "boat"

In an attempt to refocus their enthusiasm on FALL rather than HALLOWEEN, I tried several crafts and activities with the girls. They seemed to enjoy them...but it did nothing to curb their Halloween excitement.

I didn't trust this one with paint...so I gave her yogurt to make a mess with.

Continuing with their Halloween love, they decided to put up Halloween "decorations" all around the house:

Dressing up these wooden geese with some of their magnetic tiles

Making "scarecrows" with boxes and blankets

And trying their hands at making "pumpkins" with their tiles. I was pretty impressed with the creativity, to be honest.

They also wanted to make monsters, so I set them up with supplies to make monster puppets, which were anything but scary.

Brynn was sad EVERY MORNING when Brad left for Dumbarton and was always beside herself with excitement when he would get home every afternoon, so here's a collection of Brad and Brynn Reunited photos:

We went on a lot of field trips, but we also spent most of our weekday mornings at home doing regular school assignments and projects:

Because we were spending so much time at the zoo, we did a pretty big unit on animals and their habitats. We also made a couple of habitat dioramas.

We also did some group projects...when the 3-year-old would cooperate.

Really focused on their studies

Brynn developed and honed quite a few skills during our time in DC (walking was not one of those skills, however):

Stair climbing

Climbing up onto couches...

...and chairs.

She also really worked on her pouty faces.

But she was sometimes smiley, too. Thank goodness.

Just some normal days doing normal things. Just not in our normal place. :)

Boswell beach trip 2022: part 1

Just another friendly reminder that I'm still playing catch-up. Clearly, it is not currently July... We made another annual trip to Tops...
