Letter to My Hallie: 5 Months

Hallie,

Another month has slipped through my fingers, and here we are, celebrating FIVE months of you!

You continue to be the SWEETEST baby. You are so happy and are always on the verge of being delighted. Your smiles light up entire rooms, and we will all say and do the silliest things for you. I am just so grateful that you eat and sleep so well, which plays into your general contentedness and happiness. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A new favorite activity of yours is blowing raspberries. You do it all the time! Even when you're almost asleep, you'll blow some raspberries for us. Also, much like the Bulgy Bear in Prince Caspian, you WILL suck your paws. We're trying to keep it from becoming an enduring habit...but it is very cute.

A very recent development that we all LOVE is your new skill of growling to communicate with us! It is absolutely hilarious (and you know it). It's especially funny when you get going and then have to cough to clear your throat. I hope you keep doing it for a long time.

Right after Christmas, Poppy noticed that you had a touch of torticollis affecting the left side of your neck (that basically means that the muscles on that side had contracted). Because it's my personality to research and make a plan, I RESEARCHED and MADE A PLAN. We started positioning you so that you would be encouraged to turn your head and stretch out those muscles. We've been working on it for the past month, and you've done so well that when we went for your last pediatric appointment, your doctor could only see the slightest evidence of it. I'm very proud of us.

On January 18, you accidentally rolled from your tummy to your back during tummy time. It absolutely confused you and you could not figure out what had happened to you! Your sisters were thrilled because they all happened to be watching you when you did it. It was the highlight of our morning, for sure.

You are always so excited to see your sisters, you are still calmed by having me near, and you will laugh for Daddy but no one else currently. You bring us all so much joy and light up our days. We are so grateful for you, our baby Hallie.

Love you,
Mommy

Just another friendly reminder that I'm still playing catch-up. Clearly, it is not currently July... We made another annual trip to Tops...
